    Talking "thud" in front right suspension

    on my 79 caddy ..this usually happens when im in reverse and im pulling out of my driveway or any place.. and when im turning to get out, there is usually this loud thud sound coming from the right front suspension..my dad thinks its like a ball bearing or something??...does any1 have an idea??

    Can you give a mroe detailed description? Is it just one thud, or does it repeat? It could be a bearing.

    well like its just this hard loud thud, like the sound of someone hitting a plastic bucket with a bat or something..and its in the front right suspension..i dunno how much more to explain it..i think it may be a ball bearing??

    You know, recently I made the mistake of letting my friend change my brake pads for me, and directly after he was done I ended up with the same exact problem you're describing. After inspecting the area, I found that what happened was he didn't tighten the lower bolt on the caliper all the way. So whenever I went backwards, the caliper would shift and clunk.

    I'm not saying that its not the balljoint though because that's still a big possibility. I'm just saying that you should get it checked out because it could also be something else.
