    Angry service ride control message

I was having NO problems with my 1995 Deville Sedan until a mechanic in our shop lifted the front end off the ground in order to drain motor oil. As soon as the car was put back on the ground the "service ride control" message started. Any ideas what would have caused this

It usually means your struts are going out, and passive struts are usually put in to save about $1200.

    How many miles??

Pull your codes and see what is causing your message. Do a search for obd1 codes and how to check them.

Ive always hated how they dangle your vehicle like that, not really their fault if it wrecks something. I just dont agree with it.

My local mechanic uses a push stick on the brake pedal while doing aligment and he got busy and my car was left for about 3 hours. Totally drained my battery by leaving the brake pedal depressed. Now that did piss me off, your battery can only take so many full drains in its lifetime.

the monroe's at pep boys , and the passive's are at 59.99 each , basically double the price for the ones with the sensors..

    what do you think ?

    Re: service ride control message

you must be talking about struts with the "bypass" on them that trick the computer into thinking your struts are working.

The oem electronic structs have phase change fluid in them and when different voltages are sent to the strut the fluid gets stiffer or softer. This helps with body roll and ride.

If they are oem style id buy those, if they are just faking the sensor, it doesnt matter, up to you if u can live with the "service ride control" message.

    oh, those are rear struts.

I dont think those are electronic on that year, its probrably air controlled level ride your thinking of.

I would buy the level ride ones for sure.
