What makes you think this? What is the purpose of this part? and how much is the part? is it a serious problem?

    Re: Steering wheel shaking!?

Well it could also be the rotors, but i dont know.... I could also be wheel bearings.....

Come to think of it, im not sure...... That was just my intial feeling.....

But what the tie rod end does is it esentially hooks the wheels up to the steering rack... Im not sure how much they cost......

    Re: Steering wheel shaking!?

Is the vibration/shaking speed related (shakes more the faster you go). Also, see if you hear anything outside of the car as it does this.

    Re: Steering wheel shaking!?

My 96 ETC does something similar only when the wheel is fully to the left. It's a very rapid vibration. The best way I can describe it is it's like driving on those grooves on the side of the highway (the ones that are supposed to wake you up if you doze off). Obviously I only notice this at slow speeds b/c that's the only time the wheel will be fully turned. The wheels are not out of alignment and there is no shaking or pulling when the brakes are applied and further it only occurs if I make the turn to the left. Maybe we can help each other out.

    Re: Steering wheel shaking!?

If you have access to tools, jack the front of the car up to the front tires are off the ground.
then (do this to each side) grab the bottom of the tire and pull in and out with a bit of force.
also do this by grabbing the sides and pulling in and out as well.
If there is play when you do this, the bottom will tell you if the ball joint is bad, and the middle will tell you if your tie rods are bad. Also, if it moves no matter where you pull and push, suspect a wheel bearing.
You can crawl under and see if any linkages are loose or look for parts that are worn as well. You might get lucky and find it.
If you are not very mechanically inclined you may want to take it to a good front end shop, or back to the dealer to diagnose the problem.
Other things to suspect is bent rim, bad CV joint, and worn strut, and maybe more if I've missed something.
