    Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring

Grabbed a good deal on the new Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring tires for my 2005 Deville Base. So far so good. These are very smooth and have restored the float on my vehicle that I have come to appreciate. Shimmy at 70mph is gone, also thanks to a road force balance. Not sure yet of rain tracking and probably will never really know much about grip / handling on this vehicle, but so far am very satisfied with these. Can't really go wrong with the Coopers since they have a "test drive" period.

I really liked the CS4s on the 2000 Seville I had and expect the same satisfaction from these. Take the plunge now while they are new and cheap (they are currently cheaper than the CS4s, although not applicable on the current rebate promotions).

Will post back occasionally as I get more experience on this set.

    Re: Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring

I run the V-rated Cooper CS-4s and am most satisfied with ride, longevity, and handling ability. BUT - I occasionally drive the car at insane speeds over twisty rural roads and so inflate them to 34 psi, cold - so "ride" then suffers.

I like the specs on the 235/55/17 CS5-V tire. hmmmmm.............

Our local Western Auto has great deals on them, as well as a fanatic guy on the Hunter Road Force machine.

    Re: Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring

My guess is that Cooper and associated retailers are pricing these aggressively to generate momentum as the series is brand new. Hence, the online rebates do not apply to this model.

I got mine for $103 apiece (H Rated), plus all of the ancillary tire shop charges - Discount Tire. In six months these could be in the ballpark of $120+ apiece.
