    brake pad wear warning message

I have a 2001 Seville. I got a message that said "check brake linings". The front pads were indeed worn down to the wear sensors - which is an electrical contact on the pads that touches the rotors when severly worn down.

I changed the pads - being careful to move the wear sensors to the new pads. They are now not touching the rotors.

The problem is that the message keeps coming back on every key up. Does anyone know how to reset the computer to extinquish the message?

You should just be able to unhook the wires and put them torgether, causing a short..... Otherwise, your probably gonna need new sensors if the message is really bothering you....

There might be a PCM command to do it, but I couldnt tell you that!

Thanks for the reply, but I don't quite understand it. Put which wires together? The left and right side of the car? Or do you mean each sensor wire to ground?

    Could you elaborate more?

    Thanks,

Oh... The sensor is a single wire unit???

you may have to just bite the bullet and replace the sensor!

Re: brake pad wear warning message

Always Replace The Electrical Wear Sensors After They Have Touched The Rotor. Have Owned A Couple Of Mercedes In The Past And They Have Basically The Same System, Except They Use A Light On The Dash To Alert To Wear. On That Car, If The Sensors Are Re Used, The Light Flickers Or Wont Go Off. I'm Posting This Not For You As You Seem To Have Fixed Yours By Replacing The Sensors, But Somebody Else Might Not Be Aware And Ask On This Forum.
