    Change Brake Pads

I got the "Change brake pads" warning in the DIC this morning as I was driving to work. I know that the front pads are new, as I changed them about 10,000 miles ago. So the rears must be worn. I stop by the auto store this evening, to get new pads. They do not stock Raybestos QS (my favorite) so i get Hawk Performance. the Hawk's do not have the cut out for the wear sensor. I removed the pads, which were pretty worn, but not dead, and installed the Hawk's. Since there is no place for the sensor, I taped it up and out of the way. The driver side sensor is destroyed. there is no contact on it, just a wire. After changing the pads, I still get the change pads warning at each start up. I am also getting a ABS C1246 code. this code is current, and even after clearing it, it comes back, even if i haven't started the car. What gives? What should I do to correct the situation? Thanks.

The system won't remove the message until it senses new senders. Even if they don't fit the pads, you have to plug them in so the message goes away.

    Re: Change Brake Pads

Update on brake job. I drove the car to work yesterday, and I was getting a bad vibration, when braking. The rear rotors were shot. I bought new rotors, and new pads, that have the cut-out for the sensors. I also bought a new sensor from the dealer ($23.00 +). I installed everything, brought back the Hawk pads for a refund, and everything is okay. The message is gone. I still haven't checked to see if the ABS code is gone, but I am sure it is. So all is good in Woodbridge. Now I have to do the wifes car. If anyone knows what the torque is on a 2002 Infinit I35 front axle nut, I would appreciate it. I cannot find anything on the net. Thanks
