    '94 Deville strut spring removal

Can the strut spring be removed with a MacPherson spring compressor, or do I need one of the strut compressors like is listed in the service manual?
Any tricks I should know about when changing the struts?

    Thanks!

    Hi:

I did that couple of months ago, you can rent a regular spring compressor from say Autozone, but: you cannot do it without an impact wrench. the nut that is holding the strut assembly with the spring will spin with the strut rod.

I had looked everywhere for that J socket, no where to found, I ended up putting the strut and spring back as bofore.

So you need an impact wrench (air) and the tool that will let you hold the strut top nut from spinning with an open end to hold the strut rod. if you know what I mean.

I have a Mac strut spring compressor. So I'm guessing that I can just use my impact wrench to get the nut loose without using the socket tool to hold the strut shaft in place. That's good, that's what I was planning to do!

    Thanks!
