i had 3 michelin pass tires on my car that were at 50% tread. i also had 1 other tire that was at 75%. i drive on a long 180degree cloverleaf. you basically do a long flat sweeping curve to reverse your direction. highway planners are odd sometimes. my car used to feel somewhat twitchy in curve. i tracked down a 4th matching tire. same brand and age. i compared tire date code and now all 4 tires match. threw car into curve and i think it feels smoother. or a bit more balanced. am i just imagining things? oh, my right front strut is unplugged. bad solenoid. i am using resistor and car seems happy.

Re: matched tires?
If the odd tire was a different brand you prob had a tire of different hardness/grip. I've run 4 different tires but all same basic tread on numerous cars and haven't noticed any major differences. If you have one strut only unplugged you're probably get the feeling from that.
