Question 1973 DeVille Upper Ball joint replacement

Anyone have any info on replacement of an upper ball joint? The manual I have says the ball joint is welded in so if it needs replaced the entire control arm must be replaced. It does appear to be welded in. any info or tips on how to deal with this? I can't locate a new upper control arm. Everyone seems to sell an upper ball joint, pricey but they sell them.

    TIA

I replaced mine with Moog, they are welded in, but its more like two good tact welds.

So does the new one need to be welded in as well, or does it bolt in, press in?

    Thanks!
