The major factor is the original post relates to a '98 Seville and you are asking questions about a '95 Eldo; different beasts as far as suspension evolution is concerned.
There can be little doubt that your struts (front) and shocks (rear) are due for replacement if you are still riding on the factory installed pieces.
As to the "ride control error" you are not seeing; that simply means the damper solenoid valves in your struts and shocks are still working as intended. There are no "sensors" in your struts and shocks. |

thanks | The "message" is not related to the rebound/oscillation damping function of the struts/shocks.
When you say the struts are "shot", my feeble mind leads me to believe your car might be bouncing/oscillating due to spring rebound as if the the stuts/shocks were not installed at all.
There is no message or code for worn-out struts or shocks. |

Strutmaster? for '98 STS I just had my front struts put in this week, the car rides much better & does not make as many "clunking" noises. I had the rears done about 2 1/2 years ago along with coil springs i've only put abou 10,000 miles on the rears & was told I should really get new rear struts if I want the car to be aligned the right way, I still have a slight camber issue on one tire. I find it hard to belive that the struts & springs are worn so early.
Whats the point of this story, i'm getting to that. My front struts were SHOT I mean toast, had been for over a year, the day I had the new ones put in by my mechanic I stopped @ by my Local Cadillac dealer because our of sheer curiosity I wanted to see what kind of dealor service & warrenty work had been preformed on the car.
They looked up my VIN# & to my shock 4 pages of warrenty work was printed out, My Deville had some major MAJOR issues b4 I got it. I was even more stuned when I found out the front Struts had been replaced in 2003 @ 67,000 miles, so I guess if the GM versions only really do only last 4 to 5 years 45 to 55k its not unthinkable that Strutmasters would last half of the time & mileage.
Just my 2cents. |

I can install these with no spring compressor so they say... just need jack stands, and bigger wrenches and sockets.
I rebuilt a Mazda Rotary engine. Should I go for it or let the pro's do it for $1100 more (I know they have to make a buck but that's a lot)... I live in a neighborhood with dentists and lawyers, I think it would be fun to freak them out again... it's been 5 years since I pulled and replaced the engine from my Mazda. It would be cool to see the beloved SLS on Jack stands with the wheels and springs off and make that nosey country clubber across the street sweat again.
I am also building a sailboat in my garage... the last time he gave me shi$% about its completion, I told him it was just practice for the airplane I want to build. :-) |
