    Front shock absorbers 92 Seville

I have to replace my front shocks, on my 93 Seville, and I would like to know what do you think, somebody who did that work, about 2 possibilities, between the original GM and the AC Delco.

Perhaps there is a difference about air suspension or not ?

I think the part number are the same ( USA / France) I have

    GM : 221 89 452 and AC Delco : 580 103

I don't know if I will buy it in USA or in France, it depends of the price.

    Thank you for help!

The price for OEM front struts? Are you sure you want to know?... You may want to sit down for this.

They're about $800 for each one, about $1600 for both. That's just parts cost not labor.... I bet those aftermarket kits are looking way better now huh? Aftermarket shocks/struts usually run about $500 for all four corners. They will not give as good a ride as the OEM though as they are passive rather than active.

Active shocks/struts have a dampening valve in them that controls how soft or firm the shock/strut is. It actively adjusts the softness or firmness of the shocks/struts to your driving style as you drive.

Passive shocks are less high tech. They stay the same firmness until they go bad. Arnott is a good brand of passive shocks. I haven't tried them myself but I've heard good reviews.

Yeah my pimp level right now is prolly at like 10% cause the car is having cooling system troubles and it is in desperate need of a good wash. Hahaha.

    Krashed,

Thank you very much for your reply, and I am sorry for my late, too busy !

I think I will buy Arnott shock absorbers, I have to replace them quickly !
But next week I will replace first the windscreen, because in Belgium, during winters they use to put sand or salt on the roads.
    It never has been replaced.

My car was washed very often, when it was in Belgium, it is because it is very clean, with no rust.

Re: Front shock absorbers 92 Seville

    Hello,

I come back ! by lack of time, I have decided to order my front struts, and bearings around struts at Rockauto parts.

With coil, and seals for my power steering pump.

Four days after, everythings arrived in France.

I bought two AC Delco gas shocks.
Is anybody here who did it ? and what do you think about.

Hope to read you soon, and thank you very much !
    Will.

How did you get a cadillac seville in France? Did you have to have it shipped there?

Is it a rare thing to see a car like that in France? Is it expensive to have?

    Good luck with the repairs.

Re: Front shock absorbers 92 Seville

    Hello David,

Thank you for your message !

I bought my Seville in the south of France 1900 $ approx
It is a European model, delivered in Belgium, its first owner came to live in France with the Seville.
In summer 2008 he bought a new 2008 STS, and sold his Seville to me, it is really a first hand.

I am going to replace injectors I ordered at Rockauto, this month, like the front shocks, I have in my garage I bought some months ago, I did not have the time to replace... I will do everything next february !

    It has now 270 000 km = 169 000 miles.
The black leather is in very good condition, and the body too.

I need a third central stop light, because some bulbs are dead, and the door open bell when key engaged, doesn't work, broken itself in may 2008, I will try to repair it, it is a very expensive part, at Rockauto, because it has main lights and front and rear fog lights, not allowed in the USA, I don't why, about the rear fog lights.

Where do you live ? in the USA ?

Best wishes, hope to read you !
    Will.
