Smile Arnott rear shock kit question?

I have a 1998 Deville Concours and I want to purchase the Arnott rear air shock kit.
I am not sure if my compressor is working.
The question is if you use the Arnott rear shocks do they require the compressor to be working or are they passive and only require the electronic hook-up to avoid the dash error.
All help is appreciated.

Just received an e-mail from Arnott Inc and they tell me that yes you need the compressor in working order for the rear air shock kit.

just saw ur post, yep they maintain the air ride system in the back so you need the compressor working, Arnott sells new compressors....
