Acquired a 1993 Cadillac Seville STS with 82k miles this week.
Information panel says "Service Ride Control" -- Traction Disabled
Quick inspection from cadillac says front brakes are in good condition, rear brakes have 20% remaining life.
ABS light is illuminated on dash..
Error codes are: ( All history except T033 )
T033 RR Wheel Speed Sensor Continuity Fault
S016 Right Front Damper Solenoid Valve Short to Ground/Open
S021 Left Rear Damper Solenoid Valve Short to Ground/Open
S044 Lift or Dive Signal Fault
S060 Left Front Position Sensor Fault
S061 Right Front Position Sensor Fault
Any ideas or suggestions ?
My guess is a faulty computer module. ( BCM was it )
On a side note: i have to get my service manual ..
Probably the front shock actuators, and shocks too..... Take the actuators off, clean them and see if they are "setting" when you turn the key on... You may have to have someone do this while you look, and you will see them move a bit..... These actuators are servo motors that control the shock dampening.... You also may look at the level position "arms" on each wheel, that tell the cars level to make the shocks stiffer..... They may be going bad too.... But before you do anything, do try and reset the codes and ECM.
A good set of aftermarket shocks without the actuators will solve this for cheap and make the car ride better if yours are worn... Look on ebay... a guy offers a kit for this.... I dont recommend this over good factory "active" shocks, but if you dont want to spend up to 1500+... This few hundred dollar option will get rid of these issues and probably make your car ride a heck of a lot better than it does now with 80K shocks on it.....
