I've had the SRX a week and everything was fine until this morning. The battery was so dead it would only unlock two of the doors. Weird. Jumped it and bingo, all is fine. Took it to the service center and all is well; battery only 3 years old and charging system is fine.
Went for a ride last night but don't remember anything being left on.
I'll go out and check tonight while it's dark to see if anything is still on. I assume the nav screen goes out along with all the other lights when the car is locked. I didn't see any interior lights come on after getting it running this am.
Any ideas as to what might have been left on?:hmm:
Just replaced my battery with a Everstart Maxx 78 series from walmart. The battery I replaced was manufactured in March '09. I had to put it on a trickle charger the last few months if I didn't drive it everyday. Now that vacation time is here I went ahead and bought a new battery for reliability on our trips. We don't drive the vehicle everyday anyways as its our 3rd (spare) vehicle so the battery probably went sooner than normal. However, I have an 06 SRX and a new battery was put in in '09, so 3-4 years may be average for these vehicles.
The everstart Maxx was only $89 at Walmart, instead of the $189 quoted from the dealer and Advanced Auto. Few members here have a couple years on these batteries with no issues, but I would still check to make sure you don't have any power draining overnight.
I think I have it figured out. Read on this forum that if you leave the heated mirrors on (indicated with a amber light in the mirror arm rest switch) it will drain the battery if left on over night. As soon as I got it started after the jump start, I noticed the light on. Then I remembered that my son drove the car last night and adjusted the mirrors! Bingo! I quite sure this was the problem. Like my original post, I've had the car a week and no battery drain issues and it checked out fine at the battery store this am as well as the charging system. Thanks for the responses to my post.
Really loving my SRX. It just takes awhile to learn about all the 'toys'.
My 2004 SRX had battery problems when first bought new with same smpyoms as yours. It took 3 tows to the dealer to determine bad cell and they put new battry in free.. Just replaced the battery after 10 years, not because it was giving me problems, but figured I got my moneys worth from it. Had it done at Delco dealer for $250 because I've read about problems after battery replacement by owners.Well worth the money. In fact auto parts stores(Advance,Autozone, etc.) won't do it because they claim you need a memory saver hooked to car when changing battery. Hell,I have enough problems with my own memory!!!!! LOL
