Okay, so we're looking at doing a big meet in FL. I mean, sure, a get together is nice and all that, but we want to do some good stuff too.
I'm thinking sometime in July is good (summer and such). We can do a fun cruise on the beach, get some food at an outdoor type place and maybe find a car show or something else to hit.
So... questions:
1. Where in FL? I was thinking the Broward/Palm Beach area, or a bit North.
2. What's there to do in July? Anybody know of any events?
3. Anyone interested in going to PBIR for an afternoon, if its open (actually, do they even do track days anymore)?
4. Other suggestions?
By the time I finally make it out there in '11, Bro_Ham will likely have his own undertaking parlor. Imagine his surprise at seeing a dozen or so Cadillacs show up in his parking lot! Now there's a sight worth planning on
Running my rig in a mighty high gear,
I don't care where I go just long as it ain't here
Something gets in my way you know I'm gonna ram it,
Nobody fools around with this Gear Jammer
Okay after further review I'm not so sure the Mai Kai is the best fit for us.
The reservations are nuts; for every person that doesn't show up, it's a $25 penalty. We don't really have a concrete number of people down, and I'm not willing to risk that on my card.
I'll hunt for another dinner idea, and I'll try and make it as close to as cool as the Mai Kai as I can.
:hide: Stay tuned.
Or, depending on how many show up to LCS (plus or minus Matt #2, Karli, Brizzal, and Josiah) maybe sneak in a reservation as late as humanly possible and see what happens.
I just worry our spot might fill by then, and they said if we under-reserve finding seats will be next to impossible. Looking iffy.
Im not going to make LCS, plus i have been there tons of times. I vote for a simple easy place to eat. The place that hosts that car show is a very nice bar and grill FYI.
Wow, this thread really took off. Sometime around this time I'll be leaving tomorrow morning. Matt earns points for being a George Thorogood fan and Sting earns some for his extensive event planning procedures, which persist even when fate tries to turn things against him.
$25 No-Show fee? If the place is so BUSY, you'd think they'd be HAPPY to have no-shows. I guarantee they could find a way to turn vacant seats into a profit if the staff collectively had half a brain.
Backyard Barbecue? Maybe next time...as there will HAVE to be a next time, wherever and whenever it is.
welcome to Florida everyone, land of evil corporate rodents, oil spills and still the best Cadillac convention orchestrated by two Chevrolet drivers on the planet.
I'll be en route to you guys on saturday morning, leaving Atlanta around 1:00 AM. factoring in a roadside cat-nap, I should be at the museum anywhere bewteen 9a-12p.
Looking forward to seeing you guys!
