Southeast Discussion, Feeler for next Great Tampa Meet in Cadillac Clubs, Local Chapters and Regional Forums; Hi guys and gals,
I have this out to see what kind of interest there is for another meet. I ...
Well, there is always plenty of people for a Tampa meet.
I'd do it.
Only thing is my days off are no longer weekend friendly, atleast not Fri and Sat.... ways to work around it tho. I'd prefer Sat evening....
Some of the best meets are at nice restaruants, I'm not into the bar thing, at all. I enjoy it last time because of the people, but other then that...eh.... The Cheesecake Factory was awesome when we went, or maybe a beach place.
The International Plaza, I felt was not such a great place, first of all, the parking was not very friendly for the meet itself, and too far away from the restaurants, and to get over there, you had to drive and parking was impossible. Also, there was a very long wait to get into the Cheesecake Factory. I am thinking along the lines of first meeting at let's say, Ed Morse Cadillac, if they will have us, and then going to Carrollwood for dinner. Another option would be to go to the Rusty Pelican next time around.
Plan on taking a couple of months to get people aware of the meet. It takes time to get a good crowd. I'm not up for a bar at all. So much so that I would pass. I don't drink. I'm not single. I don't like bar crowds. Done deal.
You guys in Tampa should consider taking a little trip to Orlando and having the meet at Old Town. If you don't know what Old Town is, ask Boombotz or do a search on the net. There's a very large car show every Friday and Saturday night. There's plenty of places to eat inside and on the same street. There's a Red Lobster right next store and various places in and around.. If you like cars, it would be a great place to go. There's always a few very old Caddy's..
The Rusty Pelican is a nice restaurant not a bar who's location is on the water. It is on the Causeway going out Clearwater Beach. I'm not too sure, but I could be wrong, I don't think this group would be up for going up to Orlando, especially in days of ever rising gas prices.
I can understand your feelings of not wanting to go to a bar as I don't really drink myself, especially if I am driving and we should not promote such things.
All's good.. The 4-5 hour ride is too much for me. You Tampa members are lucky to have so many people in close vicinity. Even Orlando is almost 3 hours for me - but I'd go.. If an hour is too much for you guys, than what can I do?
