I went to Tampa again and got rained on for the third time in a row! Still managed to have a great time though.
At Washington/Dulles you go from terminal to terminal on a tram. Its basically a tall truck with doors in the front and back. A pretty clever idea that eliminates the need for rails or moving walkways.
Inside the tram.
This airport smells funny.
I got to Tampa and my friend wasn't able to get time off work to pick me up, so I walked over to the Enterprise counter to get a car. In the past, my experiences with Enterprise have been excellent. They often go above and beyond to make me happy. This time around, I ended up with a pushy Indian guy who kept trying to force the insurance plan and this PT Cruiser on me. He even went as far as threatening my credit. Twat.
Well, he finally capitulated and gave me the full insurance coverage for $10 by reducing my daily rate by $20. The guy next to him told him to just give me the discount.
Rained out... AGAIN!
I got halfway to my hotel and was overwhelmed by a nauseating odor. It smelled like wet dog and old diapers, so I set my navigation to take me back to the airport.
I walked up to a different Enterprise counter and they kindly offered to swap the PTC out for a Kia Optima. Nice upgrade! Same price.
The Kia rental. Digital fuel and temp gauges as well as steering wheel controls. The stinky PT had a nicer stereo though, with an MP3 jack.
I love this place! The lady who served me started speaking Spanish. I stared at her blankly and said "Pardon me?"
I ordered a hot cuban sandwich.
My hotel. It used to be a Doubletree, and was a bit nicer back when it was. Last time I stayed here I was greeted with a warm chocolate chip cookie.
A spacious suite like last time. The Doubletree sheets and comforters were nicer though.
The new owners went out of their way to cover up any Doubletree logos, like blank stickers over the Doubletree symbol on the clock radio and phone.
Finally, I had a moment to rest after flying all day. I indulged in my cuban, which included ham, mustard, and other stuff.
We drove around scoping out the local used car scene.
This is the mascot of the Cadillac forum. Lego Stoney has been in my possession for months, and I never took him on any adventures as promised. I brought him back to return him, but Mike failed to show up at the meet.
More storms! Stoplights were swaying and debris was everywhere.
AWESOME corned beef and cheddar sandwich at a nearby deli.
