Thanks,
Nik | Not sure yet.. There are far too many fluff posts like "cool....." without substance. I have a feeling this is due to people feeling a need to boost their post count. There have been complaints by several very active members. And we're not the only forum to do it.. Apparently, people are tired of scrolling down for nothing...

I agree, there were quite a few people up here that were posting random crap to add up there post counts. Then some people were offended that the higher post count guys seemed "snobby" simply because they had 20k+ posts. |

Yeah, I noticed this happening a lot as well. However, I think post count should be visible when we search for members in the Member List. I usually do a broad search and then simply look at the post count to find the person I am looking for, whom is usually a more active member. I don't know if there is a way to do this but only supporting members should be able to see a post count or be able to have one displayed. I am really close to 2000 and now I can't see how many I have.

Your profile will display your post count. |

You can do what LS1tech does and only make the post counter work on technical forums, turn it off in the lounge, street racing section, etc. |

Forget any sort of statistical comparison and let the weight of your contributions determine your stature.
If one is so insecure that one needs a "mine's bigger than his" billboard, then it is time to move to a purely political forum in which everyone is rated on the volume of bat crap they can spew.
My 2 cents ???? Get rid of the Casino Cash also.....nobody in here knows how to play cards.....so why take up megabytes of space with fluff. |

With that said this is Sal's forum so what Sal wants out weighs the rest of us douche bags.
I say eliminate the user names so we can post anonymously. This way your reputation as a poster will not weigh the post and it can be judged on it's quality alone.
OK, I will admit I have douched this one up plenty myself but others that come in and point it out are no better.
Do what you want Sal and we will all still play (unless of course you shut it down completely).
This is entertainment for me. |

I agree with Sub and dump the casino. I have played it once or twice for about 5 minutes each time and then quickly become bored. It is not worth taking up the space.
I did like the post count though which is why it would be good to have just supporting members be able to view it. I use it to see if someone was an active member or a new comer and adjust my responses to their questions accordingly. I will explain myself in greater detail to newer people whom may not be able to easily comprehend what I am talking about while I expect more active members to know about common problems such as HG issues. I never went by the join date though because some people may have joined a few years back but only have 2 or 3 posts. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
