I don't use my comcast account because the forwarding sucks and sometimes takes hours. I hear that msn is ok, (somehow it's any different than other free email services!)
What are other free ones with forwarding that work with this site? I think it's kind of ridiculous that a contributing member has to put up with setting up an additional account and forwarding just to get notification of thread replies.
You do realize you can block signup from these accounts for spambots and then allow users to change them manually later? Problem solve cause spambots won't have the "real" email to use, and only real users will log in and change their email back to yahoo, gmail, or hotmail.
With free email accounts, there's no accountability. People need to be accountable for their actions at forums, just like they do in real life. Other forums are beginning to require ISP email addresses as well.. We were one of the first - as a result of forward thinking. Eventually, no busy forums are going to allow free email accounts. As the spam problem gets worse and worse, this will become normal.

2 hours later I get a reply from my comcast account's poor forwarding Fortunately, I think gmail has the ability to actually check my comcast mail for me at regular intervals. Anyway, I have no way to dispute your opinion of what will happen in the future because a speculative argument is unwinnable, but I do agree with the fact that people must be accountable for their actions. One problem is that I can create as many msn accounts as I want to. Comcast too, as long as don't have more than ten at a time. Another is that the forum blocks gmail, but allows dodgeit.com. I start to wonder if this has something more to do with the spam tagging system in gmail, hotmail, and yahoo.
edit: scratch that. It appears that I changed my email to dodgeit last year before it was blocked. (I was testing what accounts were available)
Anyway, it's ok, because I have a paid account to use, but there are a lot of different ways to manage spam that don't include blocking gmail.

Unless I'm mistaken, those ten accounts at Comcast have Comcast IP addresses which can be used to figure out who posted.. With MSN, that's not going to happen.
