Re: Mobil 1 and Pennzoil Platinum

When you show me where I asked WHICH OIL IS BETTER in my OP
I'll acknowledge your point. Since I asked for PREFERENCES I won't.

whether they are talking about oil or oil filters -

common sense would dictate that IF a person had a PREFERENCE -
they would most likely believe IT WAS THE BEST -

WHY ELSE WOULD THEY HAVE A PREFERENCE?

    except for MoistCabbage -
HE just likes the color PURPLE -

SO - how is your question about PREFERENCE -
any different than WHAT IS BETTER -

    ------------------------
the entire point is that this question comes up SEVERAL TIMES PER MONTH -

EVERYONE knows VALVOLINE regular Dino oil IS THE BEST -
and either ACDelco or WIX are the ONLY filters that should ever be considered -

and anyone who doesn't TOTALLY AGREE with that is simply WRONG -
again - with the single exception of MoistCabbage -
who buys ROYAL PURPLE oil - solely based on his love of things PURPLE -

    am I being sarcastic? - YES - I am -
except the part about MC and PURPLE stuff -

As a matter of fact, I do

Years ago, probably more than 10, an automotive magazine (I don't remember which) got several identical, new engines, filled them each with one of the leading conventional, semi synthetic, and synthetic oils, and ran them (hard) for several hundred hours each on engine stands. They then tore each one down, and inspected them. The one running Royal Purple had the least wear on the bearing surfaces...

    Does it matter? No.

Would the results be the same if they repeated the test, or did it again now, 10 years later? Who knows.

But like me and several others have said, it's just a preference.

If anyone still cares, you can go to the AMSOIL site and read up on their rather exhaustive wear tests. Interesting.

CF has its very own registered AMSOIL dealer - up ^^^ in the vendors forums, C66Racing. I think that Brad offers case discounts to CF members.

Re: Mobil 1 and Pennzoil Platinum

Would a Northstar get any benefit from high mileage oil?

    I think not.

I do use Penzoil Platinum when it's on sale.
