What did they do with pulleys? What did it make for boost and power?

Re: The engine has developed a knock

They gave up with the pulleys, couldn't find anything and blamed it on an outdated maggie 112. It made 460hp and 475tq at 5.5lbs.
It would be home now, but there are still a few issues. They refuse to hear the new noise the engine has developed and they are working on why the oil pressure gauge isn't working. He found that the harness wasn't plugged in and was ready to charge for for a new sensor and install. He says that it's now the harness...

Shouldn't a heads cam 383 make that power with out the blower? I'm hoping to make that with my stock motor and Maggie when I'm done.....

tune is off. I looked at it. I am sure it could use some retuning.

are you saying they are running this car without a working oil pressure gauge? I dont think I would be working with that shop anymore if they are.

It was off a bit, I can't remember what he said about which pulley is on it. I think the noise is an exhaust leak. They pulled the header, but didn't charge me for a gasket, I doubt they changed it, I'll have to ask him.

Brought it home today, you tell me if they fixed it:

Sounds a lot like it did before I took it to them:

I don't know what to do? He says that he warrantees his work, but I'm not gonna blow the engine for that. Ideas/thoughts?

Sounds like the valvetrain is still not healthy. I would take it right back to them.

I am taking it back, but I fear this is something that may go to court, he doesn't want to recognize that there is a noise?!? I don't know how to handle this one.
My thoughts are that I tell him to fix it, or he gives me my money back.
Has anyone dealt with something of this nature before? How did it play out?

Re: The engine has developed a knock

if that is the case I would find someone else and just go for getting my money back. You dont want someone working on the car that is not competent enough to hear bad noises. I would find another shop. I bet one peak under those covers would show something not right. Could be just out of adjustment now. Never know until someone looks though.

    ----------

Thats to bad that this is turning out this way for you though! Keep upbeat about it. You will get it fixed!

Re: The engine has developed a knock

Sounds like left side of the motor..... I agree check under that cover and you will probably find something..... I'd take it back and talk to him if he still can't hear it then it is going to get ugly....

    ----------

So it was making 5.5psi before then only 3psi after they got done? I hope to go they out all the lifters in not just one..... With the cam and everything you got going on are the push rods right? Are the springs ****ing up the lifters? Are the rockers still good. I would hope they would check all this stuff but.....

Re: The engine has developed a knock

He told me one of his guys wrapped the charger belt wrong, it's pushing 5.5lbs again. But yeah, there are quite a few questions about this operation...

I told him to take a good look at everything and that I have no problem paying to make it right. He told me that it was just a bad lifter and there was no cause, just a faulty part.

Did you get the old part? Was the wheel all nicked up? Did they pull the engine all the way down or did they just replace the one lifter?
