Take a wire wheel to it. That should clean it up pretty good.
I polished my headlights with the 3M headlight restoration kit. It is a 4 stage process. Sand 500 grit, then 800 grit, then a polishing pad and finally a rubbing/polishing compound.
Here are the lights before....
Stage 4 and finished.
That headlight restore looks good, I may do that
Pics of the car all cleaned up, lowered on coilovers and with the 20" wheels!!!
How's the ride
The ride is fantastic. It rides pretty much like stock for every day driving but when ya start to play around the handles great. The adjustable compression setting lets you stiffen up the ride a bit. I love them. I have had three other cars with different coilovers and this one rides the best.
nice job, looks great and proportionate.
What happened to the dipped wheels? If you still have them, how are they holding up? And how did you cover up the original nastiness that were on the polished wheels?
I took a wire wheel to all the corroded and peeling junk. i used the wheels all winter here in Norther Ontario and only washed them a few times. They held up great. They had a bit of brake dust and grime embedded in it but it did hold up great. I would say that doing this for winter months just to keep your wheels in nice shape is a great idea. Peel off in the spring and wheels are mint.
