The new ones, with 1/2 the miles and good air boots, get my car to where it was when I bought it 4 years ago - with shocks that still have some life left in them. I had replaced the fronts with the Monroe aftermarket equivalent ones at about 110K miles, so 45K on the fronts and now 78K on the rears.
When the time comes that these are worn out, the car will have over 200K miles, and I'll have to decide what to do then. I doubt there would be any good used shocks for my car available in a salvage yard by 2014.
last night i test fit the subwoofer box im building to make sure it will fit where its going, it fit perfectly:

started to finish the speaker box. i went to walmart to buy a jigsaw silicone sealant and a compass, for drawing circles. They had everything but the compass. Bought a 50 cent ruler and improvised:
unfortunately i miscalculated the radius by an inch so the speaker wouldnt fit. fabricated a back up plan similar to the original and finally got the right radius in and got one hole cut then stopped for the night.
Also, popped the top off in preparation for our trip down to florida. noticed the pulldown motor was acting up again cycling at the wrong times. Removed the ground to it today and fixed that!

What's going in said box?
got a set of repro front bumper fillers in the mail today from 1980 coupe. makes me wonder why caddy didn't make them out of ABS from the get go- its alot more durable than the poly propylene or whatever they made the factory originals out of. and they don't decompose when you wash the car.
also got a wood grained piece for the left rear door from dr. menard to replace my original one that wont stay in place (2 broken screw mounts.)

Picked her up from the body shop noticed the radio did not work
pulled shift panel out looked at connectors it was not conected wondering why they had to unconect the radio to work on the body hmm not sure also noticed the dash pad was not cented so went asked what they did
they said some stuff i didnt understand but oh well
now waiting for next week they had to order another part the window trim molding for the passanger door got damaged when they took it apart said thats like a 600 dollar part INS will pay but they have to order it so have to take it back for that when they get that in but
anyways went around it looked say it was looking good

Sting, 3 8 inch rockford fosgate P2s powered by an audiobshn a8000t which should send about 210 watts to each. Not a monster of a system but its going right behind the seats. Akso, i looked at specs of other "banging" systems ive had before and this one outspecs em. Back then i just saw 1000 watts max and thought i was doing big things, not know each 10 was really only getting 120 real watts. Im eager to see whay this will sound like since it will be my most powerful system yet and the first box ive built.

Haha naw. You can bearly tell in the pic cause the light hits them just right.
Some ass repainted the doors. Since theyre pearl white it would have been hard to match the color anyway so thats issue 1. The person who painted apparently didnt bother to go one level finer on his sanding, so you can see the sandmarks on the doors. Its REALLY ugly once you know its there
