BUMP - Just got confirmation that that twin turbo motor will be NORTH of 400 when it is offered in the XTS... Just a quick FYI. Also confirmed NO V-Series for the XTS.

    Thanks,

Cadillac has stated. A model gets Platinum or V-Series. Since we know the XTS is getting a Platinum it gets no V. But the media is retarded.

North of 400. That is really great news. The XTS with over 400 horsepower and all wheel drive is really something to be proud of.

Do you know when it will be available. I find the 3.6 engine merely adequate in the CTS, I'd like to place my order today for a fully loaded Platinum XTS, but the engine situation fives me pause.....

In typical GM fashion I'd give it a year. So 2014 cars.

400hp would allow it to be more competitive with powerful midsize luxury cars like the Infinti M.

At this level, peak horsepower is just for bragging rights. This engine needs tons of low-end torque so the everyday driving experience is a quantum leap better than the NA engine and the DTS. Otherwise, what's the point?

Anyone know the take rates for the optional engines on sedans north of $40k?

Did anyone really think there was going to be an XTS-V?

Yeah, that's about as likely as an Escalade-V...

Re: Twin Turbo 3.0 Likely Coming To Cadillac XTS

I think Cadillac should have a V series in all of it's lineup. The branding of the "V" is great and people know that it stands for better performance, at least Caddy owners do. I really do like the Platinum series on the DTS, it makes a big difference on the inside. Cadillac could make an even higher trim level to satisfy the most neediest luxury buyers, but that probably wont happen.

Because the DTS is gone, the XTS should offer both trims IMO, one for the performance minded person, the other strictly for comfort.

My guess is that they are reserving a TT 3.6 for a special application. Maybe the ATS-V.

I bet it would sell! The Escalade-V would be a monster.
