That rim looks like my spare from my 2009 cts, never did pay attenion what size the rim was, anyone know if that's what this is?
It sure is steep, but having peace of mind is far more priceless than having to worry about what time roadside assistance will arrive. And where the nearest tire shop that has the right size tire is. IMHO it is better to pay for the spare tire now then have headaches, aggrevation and wasted time later.
From the description it is unclear to me whether the tire is mounted on the wheel. It's got to be.
So who is going to buy one?
I wish it was a $100 cheaper!
HEDP-V - Obviously I agree with the merits of having a spare tire. It's the asking price that I disagree with.
I'd be fine with just buying the appropriate sized wheel and the G8 tire emergency kit (link posted above). I figure that will run me about $400 maximum.
I'm not sure I can justify the other $320.
The auction basically says that if we organize a group purchase, that the price would come down... by how much, who knows?
But I'm down if there are others who want to organize a group buy.
So what is the secret to the EBay kit? Is that a custom-made wheel?
I do not believe the wheel is custom made, but I do believe that they machine the hub (and possible the interior of the wheel surface?) to ensure it can fit on and around the rotors.
Wow. Welcome to America, where profit is king.
I'd participate in a group buy if there were details.
And I hope GM eventually comes up with an official solution for us.
I will also participate in a group buy.
I'm in for a group buy, too, but it sure better be cheaper than the ebay price. Ouch.
I'd be in for a group buy.
