^That's not even the half of it. Long story about the "trophy" to come (My apologies for semi-off-topic background)

The idiot ran out of friends to send to jump me, mostly because the first two ended up in court posthaste and with restraining orders, the second approached me and told me why he was there, but that he was not going to do anything (Which apparently resulted in this kid losing a lot of respect and a lot of friends, because my would-be-attacker apparently told everyone) and the last one ended up in the hospital (And seriously thought he could sue me, though he attacked me...on my own property) and then it happened. He ran out of friends, so he sent his father. Normally, when a drunk guy pulls up next to me at Lowes in a work truck and approaches me, I expect the "You crazy, boy? You drivin' that Dead People 'Car for a business" but instead, this a**hole ripped my door open and immediately struck me. I stepped out and tried to figure out what was going on and as onlookers encircled, I figured out the message he was trying to tell me and went to step around my car door. He panicked, slammed my door on my hand, which I ripped out, removing my skin off of three fingers in the process (Will not post gorey photos here, but they are awesome). He stumbled back to his truck, falling over in the process and sped off, uttering something about my family and a few threats as he left.

Naturally, I called the local family I have first and made sure everyone was inside, then 911 (Which took ages for some reason) and eventually, they responded and send the police and a paramedic ambulance. Meanwhile, I got the guy's address from my Mum, who brought my paperwork out to me (No idea where they live, but it says so on my various court orders). I saw lights coming and realized the police were here...escorting a white Expedition? WTF? My sister, who also came with my Mum immediately identified it as the family's car. Turns out they tried to say I was harassing their family and stole a Mercedes emblem from their son, so they called the cops after he attacked me and they wanted to arrest me. He showed up with his whole family to act as witnesses and so it would not appear he was driving in his condition.

Tragically for them, all of the eyewitnesses stated I was telling the truth and I was able to produce verification that not only did the Mercedes ornament I had NOT come from his car (I have several), that I owned it before he ever even had a Mercedes but best of all, that his was never missing and he just told his father that, because he took it off of his car to make a necklace and was not man enough to tell his father where it really went.

Skip ahead and you have me receiving restitution money now for the hopsital visit I was told by Law Enforcement to take, though I knew I'd be fine, which included X-rays of my hand and a tetanus shot (I opted to drive myself, instead of the ambulance, as I still had shopping to do at Lowes), restitution for damage to my car door and mirror and with poetic justice, restitution for a brand new Mercedes ornament for the one he took from my car (Turns out he grabbed it after striking me) as well as for a watch that was on the chain the Mercedes ornament was on (Never got an exact quote on value, but it was an 1880 Omega)

After a long, drawn out court process taking a year, I have received an order of restitution which will remained undisclosed, but let us agree it is a lot With this, I was given a lean on the man's property, which hasn't stopped his son from being an asshat, but at least he will not be inclined to do anything stupid, as he took a plea deal and got his charges lowered and does not have to serve jail time now. The bad thing about my restitution is that though he is a homeowner who can afford to let his whole family live under his roof for free, owns his own business and work trucks, can afford to buy his children Mercedes Benzes, afford to post his bail before he was even processed and afford a lawyer who is NOTORIOUSLY expensive to represent him on a case that his lawyer was already aware he was guilty of and had many unbiased eyewitnesses...He somehow can only seem to muster up $40 every month to pay me off. He will ultimately be paying me for the rest of his life at this rate and most likely longer. It's odd, because in PA, you have to pay off your restitution by the end of your probation. apparently not in FL. It is actually thanks to the Forum that I managed to get my restitution to include the watch as well, because I happened to have a photo that showed it in the same looped chain as the ornament, because I took said photo to illustrate how to access the dash speakers.

I hope this ordeal has sent a message to anyone else this kid tries to send after me. Interestingly, the court never does anything about him, even though every time, he is issued a warning about what will happen if he sends someone again or he appears as a witness to his friends violation of restraining order proceedings and blatantly disrespects the judge and exits the court to tell his other friends what questions the judge asked him before their testimony, so they can get their story straight. WTF? That is a ten day INSTANT sentence in jail...but nope, not for him, apparently. He had to write a two-page letter explaining why he should not be in jail and instead got ten hours of community service, which in FL you can pay off instead of working, which his Mum wrote a cheque for.

Considering this is just ONE court appearance with these people, you can imagine how long the full story must be. It's okay, I got some good stories along the way and a nice Mercedes Trophy that the kid's dad was kind enough to buy me...under court order.

^Well, "2 weeks as soon the crankshaft comes from the machine shop" is what I was told by the shop owner when I had to repair the engine of my '73 Dodge... It turned out to be 3 months... He had a lot of work and this is an engine he didn´t know. It uses to happen when you ask for a non ordinary job :noidea:

The shop I go to usually quotes me no more than two days and finished on the first and I have never had any poor work from them, and inside, I KNOW they have undercharged me on labour several times.

Stopping by with doughnuts and coffee, or to say hello and ask how the family is, or just talk about nonsense probably helps. The fact that the guys there have a strong appreciation for older cars helps too. If it comes to it, this is where my 500 Carb will be going for rebuild.

Land vehicle Vehicle Car Luxury vehicle Full-size car

My 1974 Fleetwood Brougham Special 60, with my beautiful niece (and future owner) ! I recently bought this car off of Craigslist here in Houston, paid $2000, in great condition inside and out, with the exception of the obligatory rust over the fender skirts and just below the rear bumper.

Working on all of that though :D All electric systems work, power locks, windows, trunk latch, cruise control, light indicators on the fenders, radio and power antenna, even the air conditioning - it was converted to 134 from R12 already, and has only needed charging once :D Even the Twilight Sentinel, auto-leveling, and Trackmaster anti-locks work!

I still regret selling off my 69 DVC though, I'll kick myself in the backside for years for it, no matter why the decision was made. Just my $0.02!

Jake
