I love both for different reasons. The sedans are very formal, like a short limo. The coupes seem to me more youthful, more like a cool eccentric guy's car than a transporter for the godfather, you know what I mean?
That's why I have both
Don't doubt yours, I love huge white sedans. It reminds me of Miami Vice, like my '83 coupe does. In a good way. Cocaine white.
Although you really should get some correct 1.3 inch whitewalls, that would set it offf!!! |

Coupes only look good IMHO if that's what they were built to be. This is a general rule, certain Coupe DeVilles are nice looking. But 9 times out of 10, the Sedan looks better. |

Cadillac coupes typically have a higher resale value than their sedan counterparts. Those who buy cars vote for coupes. |

I think the huge door looks awkward (and functionally IS awkward, but that's different). Proof that it takes all kinds! |

The coupe for one.
The sedan to haul the gang around.
So, whadda I got?
My wife's Dodge (4-door) where the back seat folds down so it doubles as a wagon to haul junk like trellises and long-barreled stuff for the garden and my FWB, 4-door, of course.
Oh, well. |

One of these days I'll take a few pics of the Brougham. I wish it were black too, but it's not. Dark gray isn't too far from black, is it? |

| | Cadillac Owners Enthusiast Cadillac(s): 1989 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance | | | | | Re: coupe? or sedan? It's an odd question of preference, and i find it hard to make up my mind. I bought a sedan simply because it was more available, and because it was larger, and it because it was what my grandpa owned, BUT, the two doors seems sportier and more fitting to a kid like me who just drives around by himself 99% of the time. When i was hunting for my car, a guy not far from my workplace was selling an 83 coupe deville. I liked it, but it wasn't in the best of shape, and he wanted way too much for it.
Although, i also find the idea of one person driving around in a huge sedan sort of funny. It's like my own personal limo, and for those occasions when i do load in a few extra friends, i like having the sedan.
I also like the proportions of the early 80s sedan better than the coupe. The coupes have a lengthened trunk that seems a little off to me.
I also like saying the word "sedan" more than the word "coupe"
So i guess overall, I'm a sedan man. |

Just curious where you're coming from | I don't particularly care for the C pillar & sail panel design on the Coupes...too wide, and I don't think the C pillar works particularly well with the sloping decklids the 77-79 models had. When they straightened out the decklid in '80 and redesigned the C-pillar on the coupes, it looks much better IMO.
That doesn't mean that I don't love your '79 though.. it's awesome. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
