switching from '85 hood to a '78

i was looking at some '78 hoods and they looked flatter than the '85 hoods.

78 hood:

my hood:

now am i just seeing things? or is my hood a little more rounded than the '78. ive always liked the look of the flat looking ghetto cruisers. would a 78-79 hood fit? or would it just be a lot of trouble. ive just got a couple ideas that i wanna investigate for a summer project. this forums probably gonna fill with a bunch of questions i have about things i want to do to it. thanks for the help

I don't believe it'll fit. I think the hood, fenders, and front clip are all slightly different on the 77-79's from the 80-89's.

you'd have to do a whole front end swap.

I don't think a front-end swap would work either. The fenders would not match up with the doors. The 77-79s have a more rounded shape just above the rocker area, as where the 80 and up has a more angled side sculpture. Look at the lower fender, doors, 1/4s on the above cars and you can see the difference (just above the rocker moldings). Completely different bodies.
