Got it January, 1988. Sonora tan, buckskin cabriolet vinyl roof, antique light buckskin leather interior. Belonged to an uncle, then my folks, then me (hooray!). Stolen January, 1993, which led to...
1977 SDV-Demitasse brown with matching full vinyl roof and antique buckskin leather interior. Fuel injected, which was interesting. Car was rough, but served me very well, not least by saving my life when I was broadsided by a full-sized pickup at about 50mph. My Caddy drove away under her own steam. The same could not be said for the p/u (totalled). Kept it another couple years after that, but the engine was getting tired and a rebuild would have cost more than the car was worth, so sold it in 1995 to get...
1989 Fleetwood 60S-Looked just like the picture in the catalogue, black sapphire, dark blue full vinyl roof and leather interior with the 22-way seats. It had 80K miles when I got it and looked every bit of it (the owner had something like 7 kids, a bunch of little helions). That car took me everywhere (Grand Canyon, Vegas more than once, road trip up US 93 through Arizona and Utah, cruise up the full length of PCH, across country and back), not to mention slogging through LA traffic to school and back (60 miles round trip) for three years. Never a whimper. When I sold it in 2001, it had 180K miles and was still going strong, but I had graduated and finally wanted a new car, so I bought....
2001 ETC--Cashmere with light oatmeal leather interior. Still loving it at nearly 80K miles. But before that, I was missing my first 77, so I bought...
1977 CDV-Naples yellow with light yellow cabriolet vinyl roof and light antique yellow leather interior. Like Ben and his Phaeton, I will die with this car.
2003 DHS-Bronzemist with light oatmeal leather interior. Very nice cruiser, just traded for...
2006 DTS III-Glacier white with light oatmeal leather interior.
More to come in the years ahead.

My grandfather, however, bought a new one every two or so years (he was able to get a company deduction as a business expesne) in the 50s-60s-70s
His models:
'59 Sedan DeVille (his first Cadillac to go with the move to the Big House, an upgrade from a '56 Oldsmobile)
'62 Sedan DeVille
'66 Sedan DeVille
'68 Sedan DeVille
'68-'77 he went over to Lincoln for a while, owned 3 of those, retired in 1975
'77 Sedan DeVille
'80 Sedan DeVille
In '84 he started to buy Mercury Grand Marquis. He was into his mid 70s by then and probably didn't feel comfortable driving quite as big of a car. I only remember the '80 from very very early childhood, a powder blue color with I believe white interior. It was the reason for my seeking out a 1980s Cadillac, as I had wanted a Cadillac like it ever since riding in the big blue one as a 3 year old.
My 2nd cousin (more of a great uncle, he is now in his mid 70s), a lawyer, has made a nice streak too
'75 Sedan DeVille
'79 Sedan DeVille
'82 Sedan DeVille
'90 Sedan DeVille
'93 Fleetwood
'95 DeVille
'01 DeVille
'03 DTS
'04 DeVille
As a testament to the longevity of a well-cared for Cadillac, he still drives the '04, '03, and '93, and the '95 and '90 are still used by members of his immediate family.
All nice cars...but I would love a '63 Convertible. |

| | Cadillac Owners Enthusiast Cadillac(s): 1989 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance | | | | | Re: Older Cadillacs You Have Owned I've owned only two, but they're the only two cars I've ever owned. Do I get extra points for that?
The first was a 1996 Deville Sedan, Burgundy with a matching crushed velvet interior. The car previously belonged to my grandpa, who gave it to my mom, and then when she got a new car it became mine. It was a nice car, but it had a lot of miles on it, over 300,000. Alot of things on it were breaking, and it was later involved in an accident, and it was deemed not worth fixing. It was my first and I'll always have a special place in my heart for it.
I bought my current car, the 1989 Brougham D'Elegance, from a nice old guy in Waltham, MA. I went to his house where he lived with his brother, and saw not only one, but two more Cadillac broughams in the driveway, one more black like mine, and a green one. Turns out he was only selling this one because he found a newer one. This car is my favorite, has been incredibly reliable, and is just downright good-looking. I'll never get rid of it.
My grandfather, the man responsible for giving me the Cadillac bug, owned many cadillacs. As far as I know...
1953 Deville
1959 Deville Convertible
1966 Deville Sedan
1973 Deville Sedan
1983 Fleetwood Brougham (The car that i grew up riding in when with him, and inspired me to buy my 89 brougham.)
1986 Deville Sedan (The one that was later mine.)
1995 Deville Concours (This car is now my mother's. It's faster than greased owl shit.)
After this, he stopped buying Cadillacs, due to their lack of a large, RWD platform. His last cars were Lincoln Town Cars, a 98 and an 03. Still nice cars though.
I actually just found a picture of my grandpa with his black, 59 Deville convertible. Man that car is gorgeous. My grandpa is in the middle, and that's my mom to the right and my aunt to the left.

The garage was to the left of the photo. I've seen it in the garage in some other photos, and as I recall it didn't even fit. I think the tailfins stuck out by several inches. |

I can picture me that. Proberly when the garage was built, no one in their fully sense, could think that they ever was gonna build cars like that.

First, my uncles:
2000 Sedan DeVille with Sunroof
1972 Eldorado, White with red leather interior, elk grain roof and sunroof
1970 Fleetwood Brougham, Dark Green with Black Leather, rear footrests, etc.
I thought this car was really plush
1965 Fleetwood Brougham, Dark Red with I believe Black interior.
I know the he owned so many Cadillacs in his day, that the dealer gave him a special plak for his dash.
My Grandfather:
1961 Coupe DeVille, Steel Blue,
He had a 1969 on order to celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary, but died before and thus order canceled.
So I got the love of Cadillacs through the family tree on my mother's side. |
