1. a 1971 eldorado: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/car/260008787.html
or
2: a 1967 coupe deville: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/car/258576223.html
i test drove the '67 today and i was impressed! its got a 472 big block in it and it has SO much power. he said he would let me have it for 1800 if i buy it in the next two days. only problem with it is: theres absoltely no interior. theres just a bench seat from an old bus in there but that's it. no door panels or back seat. the headliner is there, and the dash is intact... but other than that its bare. what kind of resources are available out there to restore the original (or close to it) door panels and seats to a '67 deville?
i havn't taken a look at the '71 yet... i see it has a 500ci in it... impressive. what do you guys think i should go with?

Acording to the ad the seller had change stuff in the drivetrain like carb exhaust, ignition, but unless he have changed the whole engine, the -67 should have the 429 engine.
There is one type of things that is harder then the most other stuff, one have to find in good condision when restoring such a car, and that is the interior witch can be very hard to find in good shape, especially the dash and doorsides.
Seats isn't as hard beacause it dosn't matter as much that it have the right colour because the seats sometimes need a upholstery anyway.
But if you dont care over the colour and condision of the interiour it scholdn't be to hard to find the things that missing.
I added a link that i think is great. Take a look on it if you haven't already. http://www.100megsfree4.com/cadillac/
Here is the cars in the ads. http://www.100megsfree4.com/cadillac/cad1960/cad67d.htm http://www.100megsfree4.com/cadillac/cad1970/cad71e.htm
The cars is both done to enjoy you, and very easy too like. Buy the one you like best.
Good luck

I'd buy the CDV. 1967 is still great 60's Cadillac styling. '71 Eldorados aren't the greatest in the styling department but they do have a 500. |

RWD is all I need to say. As to the gutted interior, I'd be delighted, but I'm into a custom car, not a stock restoration. |

I don't know which I'd choose, I don't like the roofline on the '67 coupes, but I love everything else. |

Check out http://www.smsautofabrics.com/
They will have genuine NOS fabrics for everything including trunk liners and vinyl tops, and of course seats and carpet. Most fabrics seem to bein the 50-100 dollar a yard range, but well worth it. You can get them to mail you a free sample for your year and colour combo to make sure it is to your standards. I could see spending anywhere from 5000-10000 or even more for a complete interior.
EDIT: Of course you could just throw in any old seats from an old Buick or Olds, but that'd be pretty ghetto. |
