How do you check the engine diagnostic codes on a '95 Fleetwood Brougham? I turned the ignition to "on", pressed "off" and the warmer arrow in for at least three seconds but that didn't seem to work??? |

I know that you have to scroll through different systems, that it's not automatic. I'll move this into the Fleetwood section, so someone can give you a better answer. |

Does anyone know what a code of 126 in the HVAC system (02) means? |

in the book it says
serial data communication (circuit shorted to B+,shorted to ground, or open circuit)
this is a post from the impalssforum hope it helps! Quote:
Come on guys... Let the car tell you what the problem is. Remember you are driving a Fleetwood!!!
With the car running, hold the "OFF" and "Temp Up" buttons down at the same time for about 5 seconds. This will bring up a segment check and then take you into computer "00" (PCM) diagnostics.
Now press the "Out Temp" button and record any codes. If you see a code prefixed by a "1", this is a history code.
Use the "Warmer" button to move on to computer "01" (CCM) and repeat the procedure.
Continue through the last 3 computer systems... 02=HVAC, 03=SIR, 04=ABS/TC
If you don't have "the book", let me know what codes show up and I'll give you the run down.
Oh yeah, if a code is being displayed, you can select the "OFF" button to instantly clear that code from the system. This will get rid of any intermittent problem and get those lights off of the dashboard. If the problem is real, the code will be set again and the lights will come back on.

On that particular code, if it is a current code (active, meaning the PCM is not getting a signal from HVAC controls), then your AC compressor will run all the time. If it just lost connection in the past, and the connection is currently working, I'd clear the code and see if it returns. If so, you've got a short, or a bad HVAC control most likely. |

Now this morning I had the check engine light come on for a while again, but when I went to check the diagnostics what I got was: in the 05 category (is there such a section) there was initially a 161, then a 163. Any idea what the heck that means?! |

get back to ya. | That makes sense; thanks. Off the topic, but do you know what the diameter size is for the muffler inlet/outlets and if they are both offset or on is in the center? I'm gonna order the Summit Turbo mufflers and could of course just go out and lay on the ground and look/measure, but here in Cincy right now it's 10 degrees with about 6" of snow on the damn ground! |
