Electrical wizards...help w/RKE problems

Well, I got two remotes in the mail today that I ordered on ebay. I followed the programming instructions, and all went well. However, now when I close the doors, the interior lights don't shut off at all. I thought maybe one of the remotes had a problem, so I programmed them individually, and it still does it. Let me say that I've only owned the car for a month or so, but I've never seen the int lights stay on. Also, the trunk lock cylinder is missing, as is the trunk release actuator. I have no idea why, it was that way when I got the car. I don't think the trunk would have anything to do with it, as the lights should go out when you close all the doors, and I never had a problem before. Do you think the RKE module has a problem? Is there a good way to troubleshoot this? I have a Factory Service Manual on the way, but that doesn't help much now. I had to pull the int lights fuse to keep from running the battery down.

Re: Electrical wizards...help w/RKE problems

I found out that there may be a "primary" and a "secondary" remote for the system. Does anyone have any info on this? I suppose this is for the memory positions for seating and such. My remotes have two different part numbers, but I don't know which one is primary and which is secondary. Help...I'm going

Re: Electrical wizards...help w/RKE problems

Dumb luck prevailed. I ordered two remotes from two different ebayers, and happened to get one of each. I reprogrammed them in order. Problem solved! Thanks to www.caddyinfo.com s instructions.

Re: Electrical wizards...help w/RKE problems

i had a similar problem on my 96fwb.nothing worked & the lights stayed on.i solved it by pulling the fuse for the rke receiver.it is a single standard fuse holder located on top of the steering column.easy to spot once you remove all the hush panels.this problem plagued me for 2 weeks despite the best efforts of several friends who are all gm mechanics.this seems to have fixed the problem & it has been working fine since
