The title pretty much explains it I have a brand new bulb installed and the turn signal blinks rapidly as if the bulb is burned out. This car uses dual filament bulbs only one filament lights up and the other doesn't. Watch the video below and you'll see more of this in detail
If only one filament works, I think the bulb is faulty. The car senses it and is letting you know to replace it by hyperflashing. Try replacing the bulb you just replaced with another new one where both filaments work.
I just went through this when I switched lots of my lights to LED.
The bulb that is currently in there is brand new, instead of buying a new bulb I took out the bulb beside it and tried it out and I had the same result... I think you might be on to something about the LED bulbs they use less current I wonder if those might fix this issue
I don't think it would fix it. Since the LEDs use less power, my car kept reading them as burnt out bulbs. I put LED's in the headlamps, park lights, and cornering lights but the Turn signals I had to switch back to incandescents.
Not sure what the problem is since you say you tried a bulb you knew worked and had the same result. Only other thing I can think is when you put the bulbs in, make sure you push them in deep, then turn them. Like when you take them out you turn them then pull. Try making sure you turned them back in place.
Still am having a problem with this, does anyone know if the turn signal bulb socket wiring clips into a main harness like the picture below? The connectors might be corroded. Being someone who doesn't own a multimeter I'm just trying other options
Hmm that's odd. I'm having a similar problem with my right turn signals just turning on instead of actually blinking but I suspect it could be the bulbs. For your problem, I would look into a flasher relay replacement maybe?
I checked the bulbs they have dual filaments the bulb that is having a problem is brand new the filament is not broken I actually took one of the fully working bulbs out and put it in the socket were the defective one is and I get the same result dim bulb with one filament lighting up... I guess as long as it blinks that's fine but the reason why it bugs me so much is the the fiber-optic indicator doesn't light up because it is connected to the same area where the dimmed bulb is...
The only other thing I can think of is if the socket is a little worn, I have put them in a half rotation out off of where they should be.
They are designed to only allow the bulb to go in one way, but when they get old I have managed to get them in wrong. When that happens, the contacts are all making connections with each other.
When putting them in be sure to look at the contacts in the bottom and where they will be when you give them the quarter turn to seat them in the socket.
This could be either front or back on the circuit. Might be worth checking them.
