How I detailed my 95 Fleetwood

first, engine, whitewalls, and doorjambs degreased. PLEASE do this on a cool car with cool paint. Some cheaper stuff will stain paint.

wheels, chrome cleaned with foaming aluminum acid. This stuff is killer, and i took all precautions to not breathe it or have it land on clothers or skin.
doorjambs also sprayed with same acid. I also sprayed acid on a scotchbrite pad and cleaned the vinyl roof with them.
all paint and glass (not the windshield!!!) Sprayed down with water spot remover( also acid based) and scrubbed with a high quality car wash soap ( no waxes in it).

EVERY SQUARE INCH OF THE INTERIOR was sprayed with a citrus based degreaser. a scotvch pad was used on the leather. seatbelts were removed and pressure.washed after soaking in degreaser for a bit..... that was four hours work. EVERYTHING WAS dirty.

On to the paint. i used 3M prudcts here. A polymer-type wax was used to seal in my 4.5 hours of.work. Sorry about the double picture up there.
after removing all tree sap, i began the polish on it. An old school makita buffer did the job.
1)Wool yellow pad. 3,000 rpm heavy pressure. This was about the most aggressive i can hit the paint with, according to its condition. 3M compound was used on the Dark Cherry Metallic.
2)Blue light cut foam pad 1,000 rpm. all medium even pressure. i used 3M detail polish.
3)i should have buffed it again with an even finer mix of wax and final polishing foam pad.
    4)i applied polymer wax

pictures coming up! First one is of hood with 2 buffs wax for comparison.
Next is trunk first cut. after that is hood. lights split the work on paint. left is first cut, right of lights is cut and buff. noice the glassy surfaces?

Last picture is my polished, nice scented, and finished car.

Leather was treated with an appropiate conditioner. Rug was scrubbed by hand using the citrus degreaser and a mix of water and shampoo. i wiped the rug down dry with towels.
I am in no way promoting anything, but thats what worked for me.
Id be happy to help anyone with their Cadillac !

Im not happy woth the paint YET. It needs another light polish and itll really bling afterwards at this stage, the car only needs an occasinal wash and wax, say once a month. the trunk was left alone, since the pull-down is out. once i fix that, itll be cleaned.

Re: How I detailed my 95 Fleetwood

Thanks for the admiration of my work!

Mr HOLLAND, we as owners will never be happy!! I agree. Im always happy to do ANYTHING to my Cadillacs, out of pure enjoyment. whats odd with us is that we are happy to buy a POS caddy, and happy to dump money on it and old crusty Cadillac parts.
the sad part, is when we are offered cash for our cars, even with a nice profit, we will say NO
What can i say? The world would be odd without chrome, a V8 and steel.

    cheers,

Great job, I know that was a lot of work. Your FTWDB looks great. I wish mine looked that good, but it's had too many years with no garage.
