1968 thru 1996 RWD Front Disc brake pads

Here's one for those with interchange manuals:

What other years do the 1968 disc brake pads fit? Do the cars take the same pads only for 1968, 1968-1970, or 76 or 84, or all the way to 1996?

Some sites, including rockauto say 1968 thru 1996 same pad, but some pads there conflict saying 84-96 or 77-96.

1968 was the first year that RWD Cadillacs had front disc brakes (as an option, standard in 1969), while 1996 was the last year of the full size RWD C /D bodies. discs were optiopnal on 1967 - but on El Dorados only.

All these cars used the same single piston sliding caliper disc brake system, and the system didn't change much, if at all, except for ABS / Traction control on later years, so I'm thinking (hoping) the same pads fit all the years.

Semi metallics came out sometime around early 80s IIRC. Those were supposed to be a lot different than older pads.

For sure 1981 had a much smarter master cylinder that displaced more fluid initially for pedal feel.

1980 and a few years older had complaints of poor brake pedal feel.

I'm not referring to friction material or pedal feel. I'd like to know if the pads remained the same size and shape, and there will fit the different years.

I know for sure that 77-96 use the same front pad size. I would think that 71-76 are one size, and 70 and earlier are different again.

I'm just thinking of the rotors on the B car line. While they were still the same diameter, the rotor thickness is less on the 77-up cars. I actually have 71 B car calipers here on the shelf, along with 77- up pads. I'll see if they fit tomorrow.
