German Landyacht-Fan introduces himself - looking for a 75/76 Coupe de Ville

Hi, my name is Alfred and I live near Munich in Bavaria.
27 years ago I was an exchange student in Tennesee and bought myself a 1975 Coupe de Ville for $800. The car was only 9 years old then, but in spite of its low age already in bad shape, full of rust. But I loved it anyway. BTW: Sold it for $1250. THe only car I ever sold with a profit.

    In the meantime I got myself 2 Lincolns, a 1979 Mark V and a 1975 Continental.

Yesterday by coincididence I saw a 1976 Coupe de Ville parked in a street in Munich and once again I was struck by the majestic elegance of this huge Cadillac Coupe.

So I am thinking of re-buying my first car. Not 100% sure yet, but thinking about it.

It should be a 1975/1976 in mint condition, no rust, perfect interior, preferably leather, perfect vinyl top and in original condition. 1974 would not be OK; since I definetely want the square headlights instead of the round ones.

I would prefer a well maintained low mileage-car which was driven every now and then over an extreme-low-mileage car which has been sitting unmoved in a garage for the last 20 years.

I'm relatively open to the color. For sake of nostalgia, brown would be great, but I am open to other colors as well. Not sure about green though…

It would be great to find a one-owner car, but two owners would be OK, too, if the second owner has owned for a few years.

On "fleetofcads" I saw a Coupe with sunroof, this would be the ultimate option!

If I posted this request in the wrong forum, please advise.
    Thank you!

Let the hunt begin! There are more than a few gentlemen around here that are very good at finding leads on vehicles.

    I love Munich, beautiful city.

Thanks a lot. I don't want to appear spoiled, but I'd rather invest a few $$$ more and get a really beautiful example.

This is a 1976 Coupe for sale in Germany since 1 year for an outrageous price, but the condition would be what I want. (Except the bumper fillers, but hat's a common problem I guess.)

Check out Craigslist in the larger US cities, esp in the western and southern US. Should find lots of candidates even now. If you see one you really like, post here and see if one of us can take a look for you.

    Good luck on your hunt!

I tried that yesterday using auto tempest. Or would you suggest using craigslist directly?

I don't like the seats on this one and when I look at the cracked steering wheel, I have doubts about the mileage.

Repainted - you never know what is hidden under a repaint - I'd prefer a real survivor

This one looks good, reasonable price, but I do not like the seats. Should be leather or the "d'elegance" style.

BTW: Does anyone know if the "d'elegance" trim was available 1975 also?

    But please - keep'em coming.

Dark blue would be great or red with white interior or triple white.

    Thank you all

Greetings from the home of the future Fußball-Weltmeister (Soccer world champion)!

Yes, d'Elegance was available in 1975 with the same seat style as the standard deVille but with different upholstery.

1976 was the first year for the "Cadillac Contoured Pillow Seating" which the d'Elegance became famous for.

    I'd recommend using Craigslist directly.

Thanks! I did not know that! Probably a response to Lincoln's "floating pillow" design.

    BTW:

This is how a Coupe de Ville in my dreams could look like:

Perhaps you should purchase ^^ that car, especially if the suggestions listed are not up to your standards.

I do not think it's for sale.

And I have all the time in the world. One day the "perfect" Coupe de Ville will appear. Or is it not OK to be picky?

Ive spent as long as 9 months looking for a particular car, although 40 year old showroom cars are hard to find.

By all means, be picky! It'll save you a LOT of money and headaches in the end.
