    timetraveller

I have a 1982 cadillac fleetwood de-elegance which has the LSD, THE car has been standing in the garage for eight years until last year when it was hauled out and recomishened. When i got it on the road i found this heavy juddering on tight corners so after reading your forum on the lsd i drained and changed the oil, now i have only had the car out once since then and done about 50 mile but does anybody know how long it takes before the juddering disapears.

You need to add a bottle of GM posi additive. You can buy it at any GM dealer. The parts guy will know exactly what I'm talking about.

The noise probably won't go away. I'd bet the damage is done. Was there fluid in the rear when you changed it?

hello, the new oil i used was olie oil 75w/90 which has the additive already, they also said that if it was not working i might have to add a little bit more additive which they suggested using there own brand and only adding 1ounce at time. Do you think there is any difference between theirs and GM, the one handycap i have it takes a little bit longer to get things because i do not live in the USA but in the UK.
thanks for your help and i will keep in touch MN

hello, the diff has allways had oil in it but i did not know was that the car had a LSD in it until the garage went to check the wheel bearing and they had to go into the diff to losen the drive shift, because we thought the juddering was the bearing so after reading the cadillac forum we bought olie oil 75w/90 which has the additive in and put that in the diff. So lets hope the oil works.
many thanks and i will keep on touch. MN

Yes, you need the GM additive. Stop by the Cadillac/Corvette dealer.

When I was 20, I wrote service repair orders at a Pontiac dealer. We changed the LSD fluid in Pontiac Trans Ams often and it's main ingredient was "sperm whale" oil. I thought at first it was "whale sperm" oil! got me thinking who does this job? How's this accomplished? Well finally got that figured out!!
