    Going to try again.

Going to look at a 1990. 5.7 L car Tuesday. 69,000 miles, leather and it is in what appears to be really really good condition. Let's try this one more time, I hope and pray this guy is telling me the truth. It's gray paint gray vinyl roof and gray leather interior. Not my first choice in colors but it is the lowest mileage that I have found with a 5.7 In my price range.

It's a 90'. My bad. I'll send pics when I get there this time. I'm pumped, but not getting my hopes up. It's not a DeElegance,I hope I like it as much.

    Awesome statement.

    ----------

I've come to a number on this car with the owner. $4k is what he's stuck on. He owns a large professional auto repair shop. We're going to put it on the rack before I leave. His shop has done the maintenance work for this car since the 30k mile mark.

    Good luck!

I was wondering when I saw the other year listed. Not often do we have people going either of on body style. Both, sometimes, but not either or!

Sure if I could find a rich wife to support my Cadillac habit.

Is the money above/below where it should be on this car?? Given no damage or rust issues. Carfax says it is clean.

    Re: Going to try again.

I haven't a clue what book values say, and I am sure you have looked them up yourself already. What I will say, is if it is a really well cared for car that has had a lot of things replaced in the last couple years (That you won't have to.) you could be saving yourself that much money easily.

It adds nothing to the car if you want to resell it, but if you are looking for a driver for the next 5 to 10 years, it is a real added value to you.

That is where "value" gets real subjective. A free Cadillac that costs you $4000, in the next year in repairs is no value. An $8000 one that you can drive the next 5 years with nothing but oil changes is a steal, even if it is several thousand over what average book value says it is worth.

If it is the style, color, and options that you want to drive for the next 5 years, only the condition determines the real value.

However, if you decide to sell in a year because economic situation changes, that is the only way "book value" really comes into play.

4k for a real nice Brougham with 69000 miles is a Fantastic Deal. Book doesn't mean anything on a 24 year old car.

    Re: Going to try again.

Rust is the only thing that will kill a well-maintained Brougham, so check it out thoroughly. If it's clean, that's a great price. I was looking at a 4k Brougham D'elegance with only 48,000 on the clock, exact same color combo. Ended up passing because it had some body damage that would have been a pain to fix, and more than a bit of rust on the underside. I actually really like the dark gray color (Academy Gray, I think?) on the 90-92 Broughams. Get the windows tinted a bit to add some contrast and they look pretty badass.
