It never annoyed me that the switch was in the glove box, however, it constantly annoys me that the ignition needs to be on to use it. Ford/Lincoln vehicles from the early '90's, which use the exact same trunk release and pull-down motor, have a hot wire going to the release switch; you don't need to have the ignition on to pop the trunk from the glove box, and it makes it a lot easier when you don't have the keys.
^If they can't access the trunk, then the trunk monkey can't be released.
