RE: WTB 1977 to 1984 Cadillac Factory Fleetwood Limousine
'm a longtime Cadillac owner, currently drive a DTS.
I recently retired and am starting a search for a 1980-1985 Base Fleetwood Limosuine. I need to be educated, so I know what to look for and then to know where to look. Tthe reason I'm looking for a base model is so it will fit into my garage. I understand base models have a shorter wheelbase. I'll need to know the length of the vehicle bumper to bumper.
A friend mentioned to me that this era had only 8/6/4 Variable engines that operated at different cylinders levels depending on how fast one went. Any truth to this? I understand this type engine is very difficult to maintain and care for?
I would really like to find a blue paint with blue vinyl type vehicle with the opera window.
I'm hoping you can help me. I just started to use the forum.

Damn that looks cool! I am not the biggest fan of triple black, but that back seat look sexy and clean. If abused, you sure couldn't tell by the cloth seats.
For that money it would be a good trial car to see if you like limo ownership if nothing else!

I have left 2 text messages for this seller over last 10 days and he hasn't called me back. I phoned again this morning and his mail box is "full". I'll keep trying.

We are all watching for you yet. I have a great app on my android called "Craigslist by ClasPics" I added "Limo" to my usual daily notifications. :highfive:
.....it will probably end up costing me a few thousand when I see a 1962-1976 come up....:annoyed:

I can't find Zepplin on the map, Is there anything else nearby? I'll be in Juliette for the 4th of July and I'd love to help if it's still there and not too far off track.
Re: WTB 1977 to 1984 Cadillac Factory Fleetwood Limousine
Hello All, I am very new to the Forum. I purchased this 1984 Fleetwood About 4 years ago with 98,000 miles from Clearwater Fl. Drove it to NYC in 16.5 Hours, solid car. Little by little I have worked on this old gal mostly engine, brakes suspension. Everything works perfectly, all four power windows, the two opera lights in the back. Finding the 30 spoke Cragar's with Cadillac center caps was no easy trick, spare is also a Cragar 30 spoke. Get the best looks cruising around the city, so much fun!! Second wheel set with Cadillac Crest Hubcaps. I have the original 1983 Sales receipt. Originally purchased in Clearwater stayed there all its life, at least that's where I found her.
I know I will be kicking myself, but I will consider selling her..............wait my upper lip started trembling!!! However the numbers that have been mentioned, well........ just seem OK. I might do better keeping this car in NYC.
Anyway nice meeting all of you, I have probably broken tons of posting rules..... Forgive........ I only joined up yesterday. I got excited when I read my car was so sought after by such a knowledgeable group of fine Cadillac aficionados.

No separate ac compressor they run the second evaporator in parallel off the front compressor. If you look at motor bays of formals you can see the return suction line coming back from the rear evaporator unit.
That is why I questioned your description "full rear unit." What exactly was in the trunk of 1976 and earlier limousines related to rear climate control and is it different from what is being described on the 1985+ Seventy-Five?
Re: WTB 1977 to 1984 Cadillac Factory Fleetwood Limousine
Ready to sell her! I have had some offers here in NYC where I live, however they are coming from people in the limo business. Plain and simple they want to be able to make money off this car. She is in really great shape, I put a lot of work into this Caddy. Kind of resurrected her from the grave, and would hate to see it run into the ground for a profit into someone else's pocket. For example there is a hotel here called the"Z" Hotel, and for a couple of years I would see their black version of this car as the "House Limo" used to shuttle guests about town. I hadn't seen it for a long while and one day I drove by the Hotel. I was shocked to see that they had cut it length wise, and now it's part of the hotels awning!!! http://www.zhotelny.com/photo/photo-gallery/ Criminal, what a shame, one less factory limo in the world. My heart says sell it to someone who will appreciate this car and take care of it, my accountant says get the most you can and forget all about the car. I am hardly retired or even close to it, so while I love it, now that I have a three year old, I have only been able to enjoy the Caddy occasionally. I keep her in a garage in Yonkers along with some motorcycles that are also semi neglected. Mind you I take care of my things, but going to visit them a couple of times a month, starting them, fiddling a little, and not letting them stretch their legs is just okay. I am not happy, and as I get busier with work even less time will be spent. This car needs a loving home, and to be taken to Cadillac Car Shows where people can see and discuss, and fall in love with her. I always wanted to take this car to shows. A slight dilemma. I might just list her here on the forum.

Gorgeous Cadillac! :worship:
You are preaching to the choir here.reach: I hope to keep my 87 Brougham going for many more years and enjoying it. If that ever changes, I would rather give it to one of the members here, than sell to someone I don't know and trust.
I have always taken owning these cars as a responsibility. Unfortunately they are considered disposable at this point. I want to preserve as many as I can and keep them running and on the road.
There is no financial reward, and probably never will be, but I am getting my reward every time I hit the street in him. I have not had a day go by since I bought him that I didn't get a positive comment, a honk and thumbs up, or someone stopping me in a parking lot to tell me their Cadillac story!
I have driven a few cool vehicles in my life, almost all of them costing many times more than my Cadillacs, but none have ever had the same effect on people.:hmm:
Good luck with whatever you decide to do with it. If you do sell it to someone here, I can assure you that it will be going to a good home. I have been here for a few years now and any of the regular members would be a suitable caretaker of your beauty.:inlove:
