From that bigger variety of pictures that 1980 looks kind of nice! Prior to this it seemed like we had only one picture to go on. Yes the jump seats were reupholstered on the car but at least for me I hardly ever used them on the 78 Limo I had .

Re: WTB 1977 to 1984 Cadillac Factory Fleetwood Limousine

I have found another car - 1983, it was silver and current owner says it was at a funeral home until 15 years ago when he bought it. It was originally silver with a silver vinyl top. funeral home painted it gray to match hearse they were using. Gray paint looks good Has 66,000 original miles, body trim is falling off, body fillers are rotting and Climate Control has problems, doesn't blow cold air, only hot. Seller says it has Freon and can be fixed easily as its just a vacuum problem? Also of concern is major bubbling of vinyl roof on both sides at base where it meets body panels. Seller says that this is not rot under vinyl but just a sagging of the padded foam. Can vinyl roof be lifted back in problem areas to repair this problem? The rest of the roof is in great shape. I tried to add pictures here but they are too large for the format. Will try to downsize and send.

If it is the rubber body side moldings they can be replaced. Unusual to hear the padding disintegrating under the vinyl top but I have seen plenty with rust in that area so inspect closely. Replacing the padding, if that is the case, would seem to be possible if an upholstery or vinyl top installer is sharp and can professionally restore it.

I looked at lots of limos before I chose mine. I considered all varieties of cars with issues big and small. In the end I paid top dollar for a top notch example that needed absolutely nothing and I am so glad I did since all I had to do was twist the key and enjoy. Some of these cars that have needs may put you in the big money category after you work out the obvious kinks but you very well still could have a below average example.

I look at old cars critically since if an owner doesn't keep up the obvious problems then what other work has been deferred that may be hiding beneath the surface? Pay for nice or buy projects cheap. Shop carefully!

    Advice, taken.

I won't be buying anything under average and the more I can get about average and closer to the top, the better. Its kind of interesting how I haven't driven a single car yet, but come more confident with each post on what I'm looking for. I can't ever remember that happening with any car I have ever bought.

I'm somewhat more educated now thanks to data provided.

Technically speaking, would I be correct in stating that I'm interested in "1980-1984 Factory Cadillac Fleetwood 75 Limosuine?" I'm only interested in factory production cars not in coach built "stretched." From what I have read 1980-1984 Factory Cadillac Fleetwood 75 Limosines have a wheelbase of 134.4 inches (11'2), width 76.4 inches (6'4) and overall bumper to bumper length 221 inches (18'5). Its snowy here in PA today and my garage is in some what of a snow disarray, but a close measuement of my garage length is about 21 ft. Am I correct that overall bumper to bumper length is 221 inches.

I'm much further along in just one day thanks to you guys here on the forum. Just want to be sure of overall length before I go any further.

    Once again, thanks.

You have some numbers mixed up there.

There's no way a Fleetwood Limousine with a 134" wheelbase is only 221" Overall Length. My 1996 Fleetwood Brougham sedan has a 121" WB and a 225" OAL.

The person a few posts up quoted a much earlier post in the thread and if further reading had been done I believe this issue had been discussed and resolved.

The modern size equivalent is 225/75-15 (XL, or Extra Load, if you can find it in that size).

I wish I would have read this earlier, I looked at that green '77 a while back. That was a nice looking car. They told me it was a 472 also and I tried to correct them, but they're old, no point in arguing. That's a shame you missed it, it was out there long before this wonderful weather started. $2k, right? I'll keep my eye out now, I do a couple hundred miles a day often in my truck in the sepa, nj and de area. I pass all kinds of stuff.

    Thanks Angry Matt,

I tried several times to schedule a time to go down and look at that car, I'm about an hour and 2o minutes away. Each time I tried they always put me off? Seller told me he got $2,500 for it. A shame I never got to drive it. I appreciate your keeping an eye for me.

    Thanks, again
