I just rescued a 69 Deville convertible here in Denver and need to buy new wheels. I'm not sure if the steels she's wearing now are original or not. Does anyone know the correct numbers (offset, backspace etc) for the stock wheels?
Is anything wrong with the wheels on it now?
I tried looking the specs up, and sure enough found nothing, but as far as i know the wheels are the same through 1975 models, and if i can verify that, maybe i can measure one of my spare ones and see if i can help you out.
Thanks man! Yeah, the wheels are trashed. Lots of scratches, discoloration and some rust on the wheels themselves. And the wheel covers have some missing spokes, dents etc. I'm pretty sure they're original wheels, but pretty sure isn't good enough if I'm going to order custom wheels. I don't want to pull a wheel and tire to take measurements only to find out later someone had different random wheels on there.
The wheels have the same offset, etc from 1965 thru 1976, but there were styling differences every few years. Width is 6" (15x6) I have early 1990s 15x7 on my car. They fit fine, but the lip where the wheel covers clip on isn't long enough, so I'll have to hunt down 5 original wheels - that aren't bent or rusted.
Alright, for the sake of information sharing, looks like I do have stock steels from 1969. Here are the measurements for future reference if anyone needs them:
Diameter: 15 in
Width: 6 in
Backspace: 4 in
Frontspace: 3 in
Offset: + .5 in
Now my problem is going to be figuring out if I can get a 20x8 rim under there and clear the suspension components. Anyone ever put 20's on a 69 deville?
An 8" wheel will never clear the skirts (or upper fender for that matter) with a tire on it.
