    1991 brougham wont charge battery. Both new alt, battery

    Ive replaced the alternator battery n still to my prevail same problem died battery. Ive had both tested at numerous part shops to make sure they were good n both worked in shop also in my fathers car but not in mine. Wires dont look bad to me put dont know wat else to do im lost. HELP PLZ only means to work an if not fixd by monday morning may not have job to go back too

    The fattest wire on the alternator should have voltage at all times from the battery. I think that wire is broken somewhere from the starter to the alternator or a fusible link is melted. Battery power comes from the battery, down to the starter solenoid then is distributed to other circuits. You need the car towed to a shop that can fault trace the wiring harness.

    On the small two wire terminal, one side gets power from the battery, the other side gets power from a fuse under the dash. Is the charge light on when running? When you turn the key to run(but not starting it) does the charge light come on? If you are not getting power to both little wires then you either have a bad fuse, bad "no charge" bulb or a broken wire from the fuse box to the alternator.

    Someone mentioned fusable links. I happen to have photos of mine on my 472 when I got it. They had melted from being too close to the exhaust, not from a short. I got replacements from auto parts store.

    Just make sure yours don't look like this!

    It turned out to b that the ac fuse was missing so I
    Replacced it with a 20 fuse n bam that bitch charges. Thanks everyone for the help
