    Re: heater always on

Is it the vents on top of transmission hump?
If so, it's normal. My 80 coupe does it as well. No need to worry.
You got any pics of your coupe?

The only way to get the heat to stop is by using the A/C which shuts off the heater water valve.

    Re: heater always on

It's only normal for air to be directed out of the floor vents when the temperature is set above the temperature inside the car.

The direction of air flow is controlled by vacuum powered actuators that open and close blend doors inside the A/C vents, and the air should be directed out of the front dash vents anytime the climate control is set for a temperature lower than what it is inside the car. If the air always comes out of the floor vents, regardless of temperature or setting, then there is a vacuum leak to the air vents. Having the A/C on or not does not change where the air is directed.

On the passenger side fire wall, there should be a black ball with a vacuum hose connection. Make sure that the hose is connected at both ends, and check for any areas that look dry rotted or might have holes.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If hot air is always blowing out of the vents, even when the Climate Control temperature is set to 60, then there could be several causes. The first thing to check would be a malfunctioning in car temperature sensor, which I believe is located on underneath the driver's side dash pad. Another cause would be the mechanism on the heater box that bleeds cold and warm air; the mechanism is located behind the glove-box, and if it working properly, you should be able to see the arm move when selecting different temperatures. A third cause would be a non-functional A/C system, which would pump warm, humid air into the cabin.

This never bothered me since both my air conditioner and heater do not work since I have owned my car 13 years ago. It is missing the front condensor and it has been like that ever since.
    You're hot- roll down windows.
    You're cold- roll them up.
    Simple.

^In Brazil (and many other Countries) it's considered uncivilized to drive with your windows down. It tells everyone, that you couldn't afford air conditioning or can't afford to get it fixed, so everyone drives with their windows rolled up to avoid the accusation of being poor.

well but in brazil, the majority of cars don't even come with A/c.. It's still a luxury there. Although the car market is growing a lot, the basic cars don't come with electric windows, no ac, no abs, manual is standard.

Oh and the reason y people don't drive with the windows down is because u have a chance of come back home with no car lol

    Re: heater always on

Mine has the same problem. I'm sure in my case it's a vacuum leak. Until I get around to working on it, I bypassed the heater core. Problem solved! (until winter, that is)
