1995 Fleetwood Brougham tranny cooler lines popped

Lately my 95 has been my work horse. I really only get to use it when I need to pull the trailer. I picked up a 15,000 watt generator yesterday and had to stop at the store on the way home. I noticed a puddle of tranny fluid when I came out of the store. The store was only a few miles from the house so I checked the fluid level, it was ok.

Got home, crawled under the car and saw that the little radiator in front of the real radiator was covered in fluid. I thought it had busted but then I noticed that the lines going into it were also soaked.

They were metal lines wrapped in rubber and had rusted to hell on the inside.

Here's my replacement. I replaced both of them since the other one looked like it was going to leak too

    Here's the other side:

    And here's the old lines:

All it took was about 5 feet of transmission cooler line, 2 3/8 inch brake lines, a pipe bender, a mini tube cutter, some wrenches and some clamps

I strongly recommend you flare (bubble) the end's of the steel lines & double up the clamps.

^^ Good advice. I agree. I've seen one or two low pressure hydraulic lines unflared (bubble bumped) and single clamped come apart in use. Very messy.

    Cheers.......R.

Mine's been fixed the exact same way for years. No flare. I'd be more worried about the crimped tubing on the 90 bends.

What Jason said. Both of those pieces of pipe look like they have been flattened at the bends, especially the one on the left.

it did flatten them a little, but not enough to worry about it. The flow is still good through them.

I would have never imagined this could happen to these robust cars , I believe V4P cars should be more durable ? may be lol
Anyway, good to see you fixed it for good
