Congrats on the milestone! I hope you and your DeVille have many happy years and miles together (that sounds like an anniversary card written by Barry Meguair).

    Now about those blackwall tires....8)

Trust me.. I died a little when the guys at the tire shop told me they didn't have any white wall tires to replace my old ones..... I'll have to hunt around and get white walls again as soon as I can afford new tires for the caddy.

WE DID IT!!!!!! The Caddy is OFFICIALLY LEGAL! I can't wait until my custom plate is ready.

Next on the immediate list is some suspension work -- needs to be lubed and get new rear shocks.

Runway Enduro's, Champario's (as previously mentioned, and I believe the same tire under a different name) are a wonderful looking white wall at a reasonable price ($80 or so each). I have them on 2 of my cars (96 Roadmaster wagon and 93 Fleetwood) and love them. I found mine online at tireseasy.com, but they are available other places as well. White walls make a HUGE difference in how an old Caddy looks!!

I keep trying to find excuses to post here since I don't know the answers to peoples' car questions. LOL Anyways, yesterday I pulled the caddy into the garage (partway, because it doesn't fit entirely, lol) to clean out the trunk and the back seat, as well as give it a full cleaning. Here are a couple pics for you.

Re: Cherie's '84 Coupe DeVille Project

It's that time again... I'm preparing the caddy so that it will be ready to pass smog by the end of July. One of the troubling things that has kept me from driving it is the oil pressure indicator light. Today I took it to have someone confirm whether it's the oil pump or something else. Oil pressure at idle was measured to be a low 5 psi. :/ At 2000 rpms, it measured 15-20psi. Mechanic guy says that it looks like a weak oil pump. Here are some things I'm going to be researching:

+ What causes oil pumps to die at 89k miles
+ Do oil pumps come back to life after a little driving
+ What's the chance that their diagnostics were not thorough enough, and whether it would be worth my time to go through the diagnostics myself to be sure before spending a lot of money. LOL

Anyways, "hi!" I'm not dead, I swear. There's an update for you.

    Welcome back again!!!

As for your oil pump dying young, I'm not sure if that's a 4100 specific problem. It's not unheard of though.
Oil pumps don't "come back to life". Sorry.
As for their diagnostics not being thorough enough, it's possible. Get a mechanical oil pressure gauge and install it. See what it says.

Always good to hear from you again.
I was doing some Craigslist searches and saw a white CDV for sale out your way and thought about you.
I was hoping you hadn't given up!

How long until you are exempt in that Socialist Republic anyway?
