On the plus side of all this grease and misery, by this time next week, you will be driving your Cadillac again. And enjoying the rest of the summer in it.

    Cheers...........R.

Hey my friend... you really shouldn't use ratchet straps for engine lifting.. They are not designed nor safe for lifting. Get yourself some chain and grade 8 bolts and washers and it will be MUCH safer. Don't want to see anything bad happen.

Been following your project and look forward to the rest of your transformation.

Hi, these are heavy duty straps with hooks at the ends which can handle 1 ton. So absolutely no problem.

I got a new set of floor mats

furthermore I took off the front clip because the engine jack needs more space when installing the new engine.

    lamp monitors...

maybe I will paint the front clip too because there are a lot of chips and damages.

    Regards
    Felix

Because I don't want to let the car open for weeks at the parking lot until the new engine arrives.

Removed both front fenders to eliminate some rust at the inner fenders.

driver side fender. Removed the inner wheel housing and outer fender skin first and then the inner fender. On the passenger side I removed all at once, that worked definately better.

    passenger side fender

    More progress soon.

Re: 1983 Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance Project

Now would be the time to check the front fender panels on your 1983 Coupe parts car and also the rad cradle rails and pick the best set from both cars and have them media blasted and powder coated. The blasting and powder coating process can be rather expensive. It will be money well spent and the parts will never rust again. If it were me, I would also do the rad cradle as you are this far in.

    Cheers......R.

Another option would be to put some por15 on the fenders. It won't stop the rust but it will hold it off for a few years.

Re: 1983 Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance Project

Finally the 83 CDV arrived. What a rust bucket... don't have to try to look if the inner fenders are better than those of the FWB. Every part of the CDV is heavily rusted.
But it has a lot of good parts. And it will deliver some very good decoration objects.

Hahaha, the tow car (Mercedes ML) is allowed to pull 3500kg. The Cadillac weights 1800kg + 600kg trailer. So absolutely no problem. The Caddy is long but that doesn't matter.

I will do som pics today to show the shape of that car. It is really not worth restoring. The car ran in Great Britain it's whole life. That's why it is so rusty, they have a very wet weather there.

And yes, both opera lights are working. Was very surprised about too.

It does not even look that bad on the pictures at first sight. Will you be able to use more parts besides the motor?
