    1974 Sedan Deville Exhaust mounting

I took my car in for a gearbox oil leak that ended up being caused by the internal seals having perished. This was causing excessive pressure buildup in the gearbox and transmission fluid was coming out the breather. After gearbox was rebuilt the problem was resolved, but the shop mentioned it seemed strange that there was a place where my exhaust was hard mounted to the body shell, as opposed to being suspended. Does anyone familiar with the exhaust of these cars know if this was standard or if this has been done incorrectly?
