    Found the pics:

This is the '96 radio. It mounts like the later model cars - with "ears" on the sides. I haven't had my '94 radio out, but my understanding is that it mounts on the top and bottom? That's what the installation kit shows, anyway.

This is the plastic that gets cut out:

    Plastic hacked out:

The only part of the kit I used was some bits of plastic to make "ears" on the new Pioneer head unit (AVH-3200DVD). It was tricky getting the depth right.

    All done:

The big plug is the HVAC controls. The smaller ones are the radio. I made my own harness that plugs into those connectors by snipping the connector off of the stock radio.

No, they're not the same color. I had also posted a mapping of the Caddy wire colors to the aftermarket radio wiring (which are standardized). I have it scribbled in my '96 factory service manual. I'll see if I can find it later.

Here's the deal. The wire colors coming from the harness are different than those coming from the radio. So when you cut the connector from the radio, you need to map the wires to your new radio's harness. When you cut the harness from the radio, leave enough slack so you can connect your aftermarket harness to it (like enough wire to solder or use butt connectors). In the pics below, the wire color I wrote in is the color on the factory radio's plug.

Obviously you could see the mapping if you plugged the connector in, but I went through the trouble of writing it down so I could assemble a harness on a workbench rather than in the dash.

If I could find one, I'd have used it. You don't have to cut the harness in the car - you cut the one off the radio to make an "adapter". If it makes you feel better, try to find a '96 junkyard radio. The Cadillac radios are unique, though. I tried a harness from a '96 Caprice/Roadmaster and it was totally different.

I'm sure an adapter exists - there has to be another GM car with the same arrangement. But, the real problem is that everyone shows the '93-96 Fleetwood radios as being the same. This is incorrect - the '96 is unique.

I don't, sorry. You don't have to cut the car's harness, you cut the plug off the "pigtail" on the stock radio. That plug plugs directly into the car's factory harness. You can use it to make an adapter using your new radio's harness.
