Heres some pics from the junkyard. I forgot to take pics of the trofeo seat donor. It was a real shame. Someone was in about a 40mph collision (very similar damage to my old fwd wagon) and rippled both sides of the car in the process.
This lemans has been around town for 5 years....it was green then orange then yellow (house paint). According to the trunk it has a z34 3.4, but it looks like a rwd V6 (no mount up top) and old style valve covers with some sort of a tbi setup on it. Of note is that the engine was not bolted to the car

    dead avenger

    poor SC bonnie

had nice seats, if you could get them out

my dad and a horribly destroyed old school impal (a 1970 IIRC)

    this was a tahoe

took the caddy in for a state inspection. Passed with flying colors. On the way back home, I opened it up. 2nd gear 30-60 mph pull. secondaries don't open up until 50 mph and don't add that much of an "oomph" to it, but at least they open up now. it was decently quick (definitely quicker than the 307 that came out of it, or the one in the lesabre) but feels lazy on acceleration. I think I need to learn how to tune the carb. transmission is still going strong and shifts crisp at WOT. I still need to get the interior finished- basically mount the console, run ground wire for console, install rally gauges.

Re: my 86 FWB 350 project ("hooptielac") thread

time to bump this thread. cant drive the car anymore due to the alt bolt pulling out of the head (thanks to jim bob and billy bob crossthreading the piss out of the bolt many years ago when the engine was put in my donor truck.) picked up a helicoil kit but have yet to install one.
In the meantime, i have installed speaker wires for my front stage. Made up some tweeter pods

also picked up a set of vortec heads (062 casting) at the junkyard. had to cut them out of an express van. took my dad and myself 3 hours to tear down the top end of the engine to get to them and cut 3 inches out of the floor on each side of the engine.

also worked on my center console some more. the DSP is missing a screw (thats why its crooked). I will be finishing mocking up the bezel tomorrow then willl glue it together and paint it.

looked at using 6" caps for the woofers, but they vibrate too much

Re: my 86 FWB 350 project ("hooptielac") thread

been working on my engine bay. wire looms installed. painted valve cover spreaders to match and installed them. sanded down and repainted top of core support and radiator top plate. did the same with the alternator brackets and alt. reinstalled alternator with allthread rod and double nuts/ lock washers.

look at the multicolored paint flakes (and general lack thereof) of paint on my heads

masking the core support for paint

    high tech lighting apparatus

all ground down (probably should have spent another hour on sanding, but oh well)

wasnt horrible before, but wasnt great either

not perfect, but its a radiator support.

oh yeah, my fan clutch died. all the fluid ran out of it. good time to do it though

    back together...almost

Re: my 86 FWB 350 project ("hooptielac") thread

time for an update. car hasnt left the garage in a while, but it does still run (yay?)
been working on the trunk stereo system install. I am running 8" subs isobaric through the rear deck. behind the rear seat has been treated with a barrier and 3/4" birch. I have finished one adapter, but need to do the other.

I have since mounted the board from the other side so I dont have screws poking into the trunk area

    eq works!!! yay

    interior removed

well, at least my car doesnt leak (no floor rust)

    rear wall deadened

I'm no moistcabbage, but it does make the floor more insulated (I can jump on it and it wont thump anymore....its more like a low thud)...and it was $30

    carpet back in

shot of my redneck seat adapters (that were free to make )

decided to install my trofeo seats
didnt take too many pictures...it was late
fixed a rip in the padding

made sure it couldnt happen again (slit plastic tubing over the metal)

wow some good progress. Can't believe how clean the floor looked. When I pull up the carpet on any car around here all you see is rust!

The car was factory undercoated. Only rust n the whole car body is what's on the left quarter due to a bad repair. And minor surface rust in the quarters at the bottom from rocks tearing up the paint.
